Aquaerje

The Aquaerje ("Aqua-eir") are a race of faun-like aliens from the planet Aure, somewhere within the world of DÐ. They have recently figured out space travel outside of their solar system, and are exploring the universe.

They have a culture that places emphasis on harmony between nature and technology.

Biology

Aquaerje are humanoids from their head to halfway down their torso, with the remaining part of their body being more similar to that of a plantigrade furry. They have feline-esque ears on their heads and fluffy shark-like tails. They have stems on their heads that cannot be removed without heavily injuring the Aquaerje.

Their skin can come in three different colors - green, blue, and greyscale colors - and in shades similar to that of humans'. Their fur can come in several colors: green, blue, yellow-green, purple, and shades of greyscale. They do not have any patterns on their fur; however, it's common for Aquaerje to use dyes to give themselves patterns.

Aquaerje tend to be seven to nine feet tall. They have an omnivorous diet; they are able to produce energy/nutrients with photosynthesis, but this ability is very weak and sometimes is even absent in individual Aquaerje.

Aquaerje live for about 60 Earth years on average.

Planet Aure

Aure is an oceanic planet with no landforms above the surface of the water; the various cities and towns on Aure are either built on artificial islands or in bubbles just below the surface. Gigantic clumps of algae clutter the ocean, with various flowers and fruits mixed in.

History

In the distant past, the Aquaerje were a religious species that dominated their planet. Around 2000 years ago, all land above the surface sunk into the ocean in an event known as the Punishment, though the reason for this name has - like much of ancient history - been lost to time and tide.

The Aquaerje were forced to flee onto boats as a way to survive, with Divers collecting materials from the ocean ruins to aid in building.

Culture

One of the most widespread Aquaerje languages, Oce, resembles Romance languages.
