Merlune

Merlune is one of the side characters in my theoretical Paper Mario×B3313 fangame - well, her current form is, at least.

Appearance

Merlune is a shadowed figure clad in purple robes. She wears a blue shirt, a belt, monochrome striped pants, and black boots beneath the robe.

Personality

Merlune is a very odd individual. She has a fascination with death and the Pixls that drives her to research both, and she does not do much else, preferring a secluded life. She's not very good with her words and tends to come off as unsettling.

She is a lonely person and prefers loneliness, not having much of a desire to socialize with others.

Lore

Merlune is a descendant of the magician who created the original Pixls, and she inherited Dottie after becoming an adult, as Dottie's intended inheritor had passed away.

Merlune quickly became obsessed with the Pixl, viewing her as many things besides a tool - something to study, something to talk to, something.. no, someone. They became close, and Merlune delved deeper into her studies, happy to have someone that listened to her and her theories.

A few years after, the Pixl Uprising occurred, and - out of feeling obligated to do so and not because of any real desire - Merlune joined the small group of rebels fighting against the Pixl Queen. She kept to herself, not committed to the cause, and eventually her feelings started to shift and she felt that she was on the wrong side.

She abandoned the group (including her own Pixl) in the middle of the night, only to be caught by another member and accused of sabotage. Panicking, she pulled out a knife in self-defense and quickly had it turned on her; she ran off shortly after, vanishing.

While wandering and trying to find help, Merlune was summoned to another world by a white cat who instantly panicked on seeing her, promising to help her. She only began struggling when she was sent back to the dimension she came from, now in a semi-dreamless state from the cat's attempt to help.

When the day came, she was found almost dead, barely responsive and nonsensically rambling. She passed away shortly afterward.
